''Biophilic Design'' what does this mean? Biophilia simply described, is the love of living things & nature. Furthermore you can say it is the hypothetical tendency for humans to interact closely with other forms of life & nature. Exposure to nature has never been as important as it is today and as a company/business you can enhance your environments by integrating a variety of Biophilic features. According to the World Health Organisation, stress related illness, such as mental health disorders and cardio-vascular disease, are to be the two largest contributors to disease by 2020 and with a diminished connection to nature, we have less opportunity to recuperate our mental and physical energy. It is important reshaping how we think about and interact with our environments. Features such as Plants, Green Walls & Surfaces, natural woods or stone, which imitate the natural world can create an experience as if people were exposed to the natural catalyst in real life. As living things, our natural habitat is nature as a whole and when a specie is in its natural habitat, it is at its best. Studies have provided considerable empirical evidence to support this notion. As a company Byensemble understands and appreciates the impact of nature & its elements on health, well-being and lives in general so during discussions with designers and clients about their projects, we include the topic in conversations and try to determine how our offerings can be off benefits to the project in tune with designer/client requirements. The research on Biophilia makes a strong case for improving human capacity, overall wellness, and a variety of benefits for those working or operating in biophilically designed spaces.
''Essentially, Biophilia is influencing positively, the way we work, live, and function within the built environment''
